Winds Noir
Sunday, January 27, 2008
Join the NCWO for an afternoon of wonderful music, presented in a format inspired by the great film noir movies of the 40s and 50s. Inspired by dramatic and musical elements from Monteverdi's "Orfeo" to Bogart's "The Big Sleep," Mark Kilstofte's "Ballistic Etude #3:Panic!" tells the story of a young detective who rescues his beautiful girlfriend from a mob kingpin. Michael Daugherty's "Niagara Falls" and Eric Whitacre's "Godzilla Eats Las Vegas" also tell somewhat nefarious stories--and all three of these works incorporate a large dose of musical virtuosity that showcases NCWO's critically-acclaimed performers.
Mark your calendar, and plan to join us for an afternoon of suspense, fun and great music. Trench coats are optional!
